To become a NATE testing organization, please see our selection criteria and policy here. The application form to become a TO can be found here. To purchase and administer exams, a testing organization needs to have at least one designated proctor. Once the application for TO is approved, the proctor/s will need to fill out a proctor application as well. Proctor criteria can be found here and the application here. This 2-part application process can take up to a week to complete.
If your designated proctor is no longer working at your company, he/she can be removed from the testing organization account. Please have new proctors fill out a proctor application to be added to your account.
Exams can be ordered in a proctor account or a testing organization administrator account.
To order paper exams, go to "Order Paper Exams" and click +Create Order. Exams are printed to order and must be ordered at least 8 days before the actual test day to ensure arrival. Remember to click "submit testing session" to complete your order.
To order computer-based exams, you will need to go to the "testing sessions" tab and click +Create Session. Select the testing organization then choose "Internet" for Session Type. Enter date and time and click save. Once you've created a session, click "manage roster" and add candidate information and choose the exam for the candidate. When your roster is finished click "submit testing session".
When a test session is submitted, you cannot cancel it. The session will stay on your "testing sessions" tab until it times out. If you paid by credit card and need a refund please contact customer service at (877) 420-6283 or askNATE@natex.org. If you paid by PO number, exams that are not used on the Scantron portal will never be billed to you. We only invoice testing organizations for used exams.
When a test session is submitted, you cannot edit it. If you need to reschedule a test session for a candidate, create and submit a new test session and let the old one time out. Please note that the candidate will have a new exam code emailed to them.
When paying with a PO number, Testing Organizations are billed for used exams only. Invoices are created and sent a week after a used exam has been processed. To pay an invoice or discuss invoice issues, please contact customer service at (877)420-6283 or askNATE@natex.org.
Used exams must be mailed out within two business days of the test session. Please make sure packages have a tracking number.
Unused exams can be kept in a secure location until your next scheduled exam session.
When you schedule a computer-based test session and click submit, candidates are notified with an email that you have scheduled them for an exam. This email contains an exam code which they must bring with them on test day. If they did not receive the email check to see if your session was properly submitted.
If the candidate cannot retrieve the email or arrives on exam date without it, you can access all exam codes for that test session in your proctor account. Click on the "reports" tab of your account and select "Pass Candidate Credentials".
If a candidate is new to NATE and taking his or her first exam, then they may not have a NATE ID. When administering a paper exam please leave the NATE ID number field blank. When setting up an online test session, please leave the NATE ID number blank and enter the candidate's email address.
Paper Exams: If it is at least 3 days before the scheduled test day, you can still submit your session and have the exams expedited via UPS shipping. Submit the session within the allowed arrival date and call customer service at (877)420-6283 so that we can manually change the date and expedite your exams. Expedited shipping charges will be billed.
Online Exam: You can submit the testing session right before the scheduled test time. The candidate will receive his exam code and your PASS tab will take you to Scantron where the exam is accessed.
A candidate's exam results are confidential. However, we do have an "Authorization for Release of Results" form you can have each candidate sign during testing so they may authorize you to receive exam scores when they do. You can access the exam results for a specific test session in your "reports" tab of your proctor account.
