North American Technician Excellence
The NATE office will be closed on Monday, January 18 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day and on Wednesday, January 20 for Inauguration Day. The office will be open 9 AM to 5 PM on Tuesday, January 19 and will resume normal hours on Thursday morning at 9 AM.
Achieving NATE certification is no small feat, but the rewards are great. Here are a few tips to help you do the best you can on your exams, so that you also do the best you can on the job.
For training and testing information, first review NATE’s Knowledge Areas of Technician Expertise (KATEs). Each KATE contains a detailed list of references. The KATEs enable you to cross-reference information with the index of any HVACR reference book to locate the correct information to study. No question will be on a NATE-developed test unless it is referenced in a KATE.
You may find further assistance by attending a NATE-approved training class, held by a NATE-recognized Training Provider. While not hosted by NATE, these classes meet the standards of our KATE materials, and may serve as good educational supplements. You may also ask the NATE testing provider you choose whether any preparatory training is offered.
NATE makes training manuals related to our exams available for purchase through the NATE online store. While these manuals do not contain the questions that are asked in the NATE exams, reviewing the material is helpful to technicians preparing for testing.
