KATEs for Senior Level Technician Certification

If you chose to earn NATE Senior Level Technician certification, you must hold two certifications by NATE in the following Service Specialties before earning the HVAC Efficiency Analyst:

  • Air Conditioning (AC) plus one of the following: AD, GS, OL, HG, or HO
  • Air Distribution (AD) plus one of the following: AC, GS, HP, OL, HG, RC, RL or HO
  • Gas Heating (GS) plus one of the following: AC, AD, RC, RL, or HP
  • Heat Pump (HP) plus one of the following: AD, GS, OL, HG, or HO
  • Oil Heating (OL) plus one of the following: AC, AD, HP, RC, or RL
  • Hydronics Gas (HG) plus one of the following: AC, AD, HP, RC, or RL
  • Hydronics Oil (HO) plus one of the following: AC, AD, HP, RC, or RL
  • Light Commercial Refrigeration (RL) plus one of the following: AD, GS, OL, HG, or HO
  • Commercial Refrigeration (RC) plus one of the following: AD, GS, OL, HG, or HO

Note: When the Efficiency Analyst Certification is earned the dates of all other certifications are updated to coincide with the EA.  When recertifying in EA, all certifications are updated at the same time. However, an update certificate will only be issued for EA. If EA is not recertified the candidate must recertify in all other specialties.  Also, note that holding HP and AC counts as one certification not two. Passing Senior Level Efficiency Analyst awards a 2 year certification.
